Funeral Planning

“I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall not die.”—John 11:25

Our Christian faith calls us to witness, even in death, the new life that God gives in Christ through his death and resurrection. We have prepared this funeral planning booklet to help you and your family prepare in advance. It will enable your family to understand your wishes and relieve them of the burden of making these decisions for you in their grief.  The booklet is divided into the following parts.

Christian burial is marked by three characteristics. First and foremost, it is an act of worship wherein we glorify God for the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Second, it is a time when members of the Body of Christ gather to comfort one another and to offer mutual assurance of God’s abiding love. Third, it is a liturgy of celebration whereby we give thanks for a deceased loved one and commend that person to the care of our loving God.

As part of the preparation for Christian burial, it is good to speak with your clergy about your wishes. We have made this a PDF document that you can fill in virtually so that we can keep your plans on file here at the church. You may email your saved plans to Fr. Joseph at frjoseph@slatechurch.org  We also encourage you to consider making a planned gift to your community of faith here at SLATE.

*Please be sure to download the pdf, add your information, rename the file with your full name included, and return it to Fr. Joseph. (Ex. Luke.FuneralPlanningForm.pdf)
