music

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the Earth!

Music is central to worship at St. Luke and the Epiphany. It is a way to express our deep connection to God and speak to each of us through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. The organ accompaniment and solo pieces help anchor us in this sacred space. Our choir is a mix of professionals, choral scholars and parishioner volunteers. They rehearse Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. and then sing at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

The music is integrated into the liturgy and reflects the week's readings and themes. While music here is rooted in the Anglican tradition, it also includes music as diverse as Renaissance motets, plainsong chant, spirituals, and current-day composers. Strong congregational singing from the heart is present each Sunday. As one congregant noted, "The music stirs my soul as the voices of the congregation blend together in praise and thanksgiving."
